Chapter 17 .  Proverbs  "The fining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold; but the Lord trieth the hearts" ( verse 3 ). Man may try silver and gold, but God only the hearts. Psalm 132:1-5 (NKJV) 1   LORD , remember David And all his afflictions; 2  How he swore to the LORD , And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: 3  "Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, Or go up to the comfort of my bed; 4  I will not give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids, 5  Until I find a place for the LORD , A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."

John 12:44-47 (NKJV) 44  Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45   And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46   I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 47   And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

Luke 9:59-62 (NKJV) 59  Then He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." 60  Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God." 61  And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house." 62  But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."
